The SPC Bookshelf gives Caribbean authors another way to showcase their books and make them available to local readers, especially those without their own online store or who don’t want to manage individual book orders.

How It Works

Tell us about yourself and the books you’d like to list.

2. We Set Up Your Listing

SPC adds your book and author information to the Bookshelf.

3. Readers Shop

Readers discover and purchase your book through SPC.

4. SPC Handles the Order

SPC manages the customer order, packaging and related administration.

5. You Get Paid

You receive your portion of completed book sales according to the Bookshelf terms.

The 20% fee on the retail price helps cover packaging materials, order administration and management of the SPC Bookshelf. Authors retain 80% of the applicable book sale proceeds, subject to the Bookshelf terms. These fees are only applicable to print books. eBooks can be showcased via an affiliate link.

FAQ

Where does SPC deliver?

Jamaica (island-wide) via Zipmail or Knutsford Express. eBook showcase is available for authors across the wider Caribbean and Diaspora via an affiliate link to their eBook retailer.

What payment methods are accepted?

Visa Debit/Credit Cards and Mastercard Debit/Credit Cards

How long will my order take?

We currently ship on Tuesdays and Fridays. Therefore, the delivery timeline depends on when you place the order and the shipping method you select. 

Who can list a book?

We currently accept print books by local Jamaican self- or indie-published authors. eBook showcase is available for authors across the wider Caribbean and Diaspora via an affiliate link to their eBook retailer.

Do I have to be published by MPPSL?

No.

How does the 20% fee work?

The 20% fee is charged on the retail price of each print book sold. 

How and when are authors paid?

Authors are paid monthly via direct deposit to their designated bank account for print book sales. Payments are processed by the 15th of each month for eligible book sales completed during the previous calendar month.

Only completed and cleared transactions are included in the monthly payout. Payments received through our payment provider are subject to a 24-hour clearance period, and transfers to SPC’s business bank account may take up to five (5) business days. Any transaction that has not cleared in time for the current payout will be included in the following month’s payment.

Authors receive 80% of the applicable print book sale proceeds, while SPC retains 20% to cover packaging and administrative expenses.

Who provides the book inventory?

Authors provide physical copies of their books for sale on the bookshelf. This means authors are responsible for purchasing author copies from Amazon (or wherever books are printed). No purchase is required for the eBook showcase.

Can I remove my book from the Bookshelf?

Yes. Authors can remove their books from the bookshelf at any time via written notice.
